Brock Commons Tallwood House
UBC welcomes the world’s tallest mass timber building
Reaching 18 stories, UBC’s Brock Commons Tallwood House student residence building is not only the tallest wood-structure building of it’s kind in the world, but it is living proof of the environmental and economic benefits of building with wood. Taking only 66 days to complete the structure on site using pre-fabricated components that had to fit perfectly together, the final building completion took place 18% faster than a conventional building of it’s size. The façade features vertical columns with Phoenix Glass’s precision pre-installed windows along with floor to ceiling curtain wall running the entire length of the building base paired with our commercial door systems.
