Responsibilities

  • Operate 20 ton boom truck on daily basis
  • Handling of fragile materials and must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient manner
  • Perform and maintain trip inspection on equipment operated and loaded, ensuring safety and road worthiness
  • Maintain an emphasis on safety culture, customer service, and efficiency as top priorities
  • Perform and maintain truck log according to provincial and federal regulations.
  • Position blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo for transport.
  • Cleans, inspects, and services vehicle.
  • Operates equipment on vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials.
  • Complete pickup/delivery paperwork as required
  • Assists in loading and unloading truck manually.
  • General shop help as required
  • Work overtime as required.

Qualifications

  • Class 3 Driver’s License with minimum 2 years driving experience
  • Crane Operator’s License
  • Red Seal Operator an asset
  • Clean driving abstract
  • Heavy lifting required
  • Good eyesight and good physical condition
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • Strength and precision
  • Experience with physically demanding work
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Solid knowledge of the greater Vancouver and surrounding areas

Responsibilities

Duties in this position include, but not limited to:

  • Installation of glass into storefront and curtainwall
  • Installation of pre-glazed windows and skylights
  • Installation on surfaces such as building fronts, exterior and/or interior walls, and ceilings
  • Cutting and fastening together pieces of aluminum extrusions or metal before installation as required
  • Waterproofing details, caulking, etc.
  • Using hand tools such as glass cutters, suction cups and glazing knives
  • Using power tools like a Hilti drill and screw guns
  • Lifting with or without aid such as suction cups
  • Climbing scaffold and operating aerial lifts such as boomlifts and scissor lifts
  • Working under general supervision
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Phoenix Glass will train and develop the right individuals. Basic requirements include:

  • Strength and ability to work in a physically demanding, fast paced environment
  • Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools
  • Must have safety boots, hard hat and hi-vis vest

Position Overview

The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of a project once awarded to maximize profitability while delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with advanced leadership abilities and the capability to lead change within a department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide overall direction and planning of all aspects of a project once awarded, utilizing the resources of other departments (Drafting, Purchasing, Production, etc) and holding all parties accountable to deadlines as required
  • Reviews drawings for assigned projects and verifies for adherence to codes as they relate to assigned areas, ensuring Phoenix Glass shop drawings are prepared in a manner that will maximize project profitability
  • Provides measurements and sizing of openings as a project progresses, as required
  • Work closely with ownership and other Project Managers to continually improve corporate processes and lead change in Project Management and Installation departments
  • Supervise, coordinate and perform a variety of administrative staff work such as scheduling, maintaining records, workforce planning, assisting in cost control, preparing correspondence, reports, etc.
  • Delegate work assignments and set priorities
  • Participate in staffing decisions, approves vacations and time off, and complete individual performance reviews
  • Coordinates crews, is accountable for the efficient organization of crews and must understand and consistently apply the employer’s and owners policies and procedures. You are required to be involved and supportive of any day to day disciplinary decisions and those additional discipline actions deemed appropriate
  • Assessing competency and capability of foremen and tradespersons; evaluating crew capability, training, coaching to ensure that the crew meets required levels of quality
  • The project manager is accountable for ensuring the work done meets standards and for implementing work processes to improve productivity and product quality.
  • Overseeing the execution of the work, including quality and production, by ensuring that the crews work to job specifications and follow drawings
  • Reviewing inspection reports and coordinating resolutions to deficiencies
  • Identifying and/or verifying that the field installation work package (FIWP), which includes all tools and materials required by the crew are available and complete
  • Identifying needs and deficiencies in the look ahead plan/schedule and communicating these to the appropriate persons
  • Translating general work requirements into a prioritized work plan for each crew
  • Reviewing and adjusting specific workforce activities and task schedules to meet established production schedules
  • Working with the crews to overcome work challenges
  • Identifying, verifying and reporting any scheduling conflicts with other crews and contractors to the appropriate persons
  • Communicates and coordinates with other trades to avoid and resolve conflicts
  • Provide leadership that results in a safe work culture, is responsible and accountable for the safety of the crews under his direction and must understand and accept the importance and legal liability of the role;
  • Knowing and understanding the requirements of and liabilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • Knowing, understanding, communicating and ensuring compliance with the safety regulations (Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and Code) and safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure project schedule progresses as scheduled or adjust as required to meet overall billing expectations monthly
  • Able to effectively perform conflict management internally and externally. Promotes, supports and facilitates teamwork and harmony between all construction crews by promoting and fostering a positive, visible teamwork attitude among all project crews, regardless of craft makeup.

Qualifications

  • Technical Associated Degree with minimum 5 years experience, Engineering degree and/or Project Management certification a definite asset
  • Minimum of 3 years experience leading a team
  • In depth knowledge of drafting standards, math and engineering
  • Knowledge and ability in the use of AutoCAD and AutoCAD compatible software an asset
  • Ability to read architectural drawings, engineering, blue prints
  • Firm understanding of industry code standards and specifications (including but not limited to) CSA, BCBC, etc.
  • Understanding of project management and construction practices, related industry standards and able to follow, implement and improve company project management and installation standards and requirements
  • Technical aptitude and ability to understand advanced engineering concepts
  • Strong communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills with ability to positively influence others and develop strong internal and external relationships
  • Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to manage a wide variety of issues on multiple assignments in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications

Position Overview

Working directly with the ownership group, the Senior Estimator will oversee the day to day functions of the Estimating department. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, results-driven individual with advanced leadership skills and the capability to lead change within a department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze architectural drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates, bonding, insurance, etc.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate material, labour, equipment, subcontracts, construction facilities, etc. estimates
  • Foster relationships with architects, owners, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Attend on-site, pre-bid/proposal conferences and site visits
  • Develop and review subcontractor scopes of work and quotes for best value
  • Prepare project bid status reports and insure compliance with all specifications and contract State of Work and Bid Invitations
  • Prepare scope specifications and requirements, prepare and input project schedules, perform quantity take-offs, prepare cost summary
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
  • Maintain files of working documents for back-up to estimating figures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years estimating experience in the new building construction industry, preferably in the glazing industry
  • Advanced project estimator skills that include performing engineering calculations, being conversant in engineering nomenclature to effectively communicate with decision makers, engineers, product manager, project manager, engineers and vendors
  • Knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control and material pricing
  • Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, read and understand architectural drawings, purchase orders, contracts, cost coding systems, etc.
  • Ability to read, understand and organize construction plans and specifications
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal structure while exercising great judgment
  • Strong ability to prioritize, multitask and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
  • Field construction experience is highly desirable, but not required
  • Knowledge of BC building codes and standards

Skills:

Responsibilities:

  • The ability to listen and understand information and instructions
  • Verify received shipment against supporting documents
  • Complete different forms and prepare documents for shipment
  • Organize distribution and shipping materials
  • Locate and verify materials and supplies listed on production orders
  • Match order with pick ticket
  • Participate in taking inventory
  • Maintain and organize storage areas and place stock on shelves
  • Operate forklifts to move heavy items and transport to storage areas or trucks
  • Load and unload incoming trucks with forklift
  • Ensure that all incoming and outgoing shipments are properly labeled
  • Assist in loading and unloading trucks manually and determining safe ways of stacking items on the truck
  • Daily pre-inspections of equipment
  • Work overtime as required
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment for self and co-workers

Physical Demands:

  • Lift, carry and/or move 50 lbs
  • Work in all weather and must be prepared for extreme heat and cold
  • Handling of fragile materials and must ensure that all activities are completed in a safe and efficient manner
