Cowichan Secondary School
Community-focused student learning and gathering place
The new Cowichan Secondary School in Duncan, BC, is a modern, three-storey design-build educational facility designed to accommodate 1,100 students in Grades 10–12. It also includes a Neighbourhood Learning Centre and a culturally significant Gathering Place to support broader community engagement.
Architecturally, the design pays homage to the traditions of the Cowichan Tribes, featuring sloped rooflines inspired by the shed roofs of the historic Quamichan village. This thoughtful integration of Indigenous heritage with high-performance construction creates a sustainable, and inspiring learning environment. Our scope of work includes:
- High-performance windows
- Custom curtain wall systems
- Architecturally integrated sunshades
- Durable aluminum entrance doors
- Complete exterior wall façade, including:
- Aluminum composite panels (ACM)
- Fibre cement panel cladding
This project reflects Phoenix Glass’s expertise in delivering advanced glazing and cladding systems for large-scale institutional and educational buildings throughout Western Canada.
