UVIC Student Housing & Dining
An authentic commitment to sustainability in Victoria
Two new student housing and dining buildings at the University of Victoria authenticates the university’s commitment to sustainability. The two new student housing buildings include 783 beds; 621 of these will be new beds for students currently living off-campus and 162 will replace beds from existing inventory. The new 600-seat dining hall, multi-purpose room, kitchen, c-store, coffee shop and servery are located on the lower two floors of Building 1. The design and construction of the new buildings meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold and Passive House standards, the most rigorous global building standards for sustainability and energy efficiency. Project highlights by Phoenix Glass include the installation of glazed aluminum curtainwalls, exterior sun control devices, interior aluminum framed storefronts and doors.
